A Reputation Thirty Years in the Making. A Website That Finally Shows It.
Plexus Freight is a family-owned international freight forwarder in Portishead, near Bristol, moving B2B commercial cargo by sea, air, road and rail since 1996. Every customer gets one named contact from booking to delivery, with customs clearance coordinated alongside every international movement. Thirty years of that had built a reputation that won work on referral and repeat business, and almost none of it online. Buyers searching for exactly what Plexus does were finding other firms.
We redesigned the site, gave it a clear structure and rewrote its pages around the words buyers actually search for, without changing anything about the way Plexus works.

A Strong Reputation That Search Buyers Never Saw.
Freight forwarding is a crowded market online, and almost nobody searches for a general term. One buyer searches a single route, such as freight from Spain to the UK. Another uses the trade’s own language: groupage, part load, LCL. A third simply wants a local firm they can phone. Plexus had to answer all of them from one website, while serving businesses around Bristol and companies right across the UK.
The old website made that close to impossible. Over the years it had grown to hundreds of pages with no clear structure, so route, service and location pages ended up competing against each other in Google. On mobile, it scored just 49 out of 100 for speed.
The reputation was real, with 343 other websites linking to it, but the site turned none of that into visibility. And because that standing had taken decades to earn, the rebuild had to protect every bit of it, along with the personal, one-contact service Plexus is known for.
We started with the buyer behind each search, gave every one of them a page of their own, then focused first on the buyers with a shipment already waiting to move.
A clean, modern design that makes complex freight services simple to understand.
A mobile-first WordPress rebuild with full redirect mapping, protecting existing rankings through the move, and enquiry forms that land in the CRM against a named contact.
A site structure built buyer by buyer and rewritten page by page, growing first-page searches from 78 to 374 in the launch week.
Tristan and his company redesigned our company website. It has produced exception results – online enquires have gone up 3 fold, bookings have increased 33%, private dining bookings have increased 11%. These are all qualified stats! Pretty impressive. What is most impressive is the increase in Google rankings, and searches – in a time when hospitality is not where it was any spend has to be critically analysed with return on investment. We did it and it was the best decision we made in 10 years.
If anyone ever want to contact me Tristan has my details and I am happy for him to forward on.
In summary I will say this – be ahead of the game not behind it.
WE NOW ARE
Director
A website built around its buyers turned thirty years of reputation into first-page positions across routes, services and the South West.
The results came quickly. Four days after launch, 587 more searches put Plexus in Google’s top 30. The buyer with one route to solve now finds Plexus first for freight from Spain to the UK. The buyer who wants a local firm finds it third for “freight forwarder Bristol”, up from tenth. The buyer who already speaks the trade’s language finds it on page one for six groupage searches.
Across a detailed sample of tracked keywords, the monthly search volume Plexus holds in the top 20 rose 85%, from 2,300 to 4,260 searches. Nothing about the service changed: every enquiry still reaches one named contact, who stays with it from booking to delivery. What changed is that the buyers who need that service can now find it.
